Pastor Sharon Taylor

The Rev. Sharon Taylor
Senior Pastor

Pastor Sharon Taylor comes to Holy Trinity from Pennsylvania. She was raised in New Jersey and previously lived in the Philadelphia area for 25 years. Pastor Sharon was ordained in 1998 and went to seminary as a second career student. Prior to seminary, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology/Social Work from Bloomsburg University. She worked as a social worker in the juvenile justice system in Philadelphia. Pastor Sharon also has thirty years of experience in youth ministry with the Lutheran Church. She worked as a full-time youth director on Long Island, New York and served as an LCA (Lutheran Church in America) Youth Staffer in 1983-1984.

Pastor Sharon is married to The Rev. Timothy Taylor, who is also an ELCA pastor. Sharon and Tim met when they served as camp counselors at Beisler Lutheran Camp in New Jersey. Pastor Sharon has a passion for Lutheran outdoor ministry and has served in many roles in camping ministry. She also as a passion for “equipping the saints for ministry” and uses an asset-based approach to ministry.

Pastor Sharon lives with her husband, Tim, and their “boys” Luc, who is a bichon frise, and Oscar, who is a maltese. Pastor Sharon enjoys being outdoors, walking, the beach, reading, listening to contemporary Christian music, and spending time with her family.

Jennifer Manis The Rev. Jennifer Manis
Campus Pastor

Pastor Jennifer Manis serves as our Campus Pastor, working with Lutheran Campus Ministry-Raleigh. Not a Meredith Angel or part of the Wolfpack, Pastor Jennifer cheers for a lighter shade of blue even though she studied at that dark blue school down the street. With degrees from Duke University Divinity School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - School of Social Work, Jennifer’s deep joy resides at the intersection of church and community as she seeks to empower all people to live fully in the Holy One’s redemptive grace.

Pastor Jennifer loves to explore state parks, sing on a whim, play board games, and dance just because. Left to her own devices, you will probably find Pastor Jennifer curled up with the latest Inspector Gamache mystery or laughing at the wittiness that is David Sedaris. Pastor Jennifer believes every day should include a good cup of coffee, chocolate, a walk, and a good laugh - the kind where you can’t breathe.

A native Floridian, she feels most at peace near the ocean and in the sunshine with her dog, Emma. She loves to dabble with the power and beauty of words, writing poetry for fun and writing prayers for Augsburg Fortress publications. Her current retirement dream is to adopt all the dogs at the animal shelter and have a dog farm a la the ending of 101 Dalmatians.

So if you’re interested in volunteering on the farm in 30 years, talking theology, advocating for God’s justice, or stumbling along together through this hot mess we call life surrounded by grace, mercy, and love - send Pastor Jennifer an email… She’s not the best at checking her voicemail and has been known to forget her phone at home on more days than one.
