Grace Gravelle

The Rev. Grace Gravelle
Senior Pastor

Pastor Grace is a second career pastor and a lifelong Lutheran who hails from St. Paul, Minnesota. She worked in the mental health field before going to Luther Seminary for her Master of Divinity with a concentration in Congregational Mission and Leadership. Pastor Grace is grounded in scripture and lives out her faith through Word and Sacrament, as well as joy.

She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, as well as an Associate degree for Veterinary Technician. This makes her not only love people and pets, but understand what makes them tick. She has 2 dogs – Jazz, an 11-year-old Rat Terrier and Betty, a rescued “mutt” that will grow to be a good size girl.

Pastor Grace loves to sing, especially in the church choir, which she has been doing since she was 5 years old. She also loves cooking new recipes and trying new foods. She likes to bake and is starting to learn new bread recipes. Mostly, Pastor loves people and hanging out getting to know folks. Having worked as a barista, she is always searching for a great cup of coffee and good conversation.

Jennifer Manis The Rev. Jennifer Manis
Campus Pastor

Pastor Jennifer Manis serves as our Campus Pastor, working with Lutheran Campus Ministry-Raleigh. Not a Meredith Angel or part of the Wolfpack, Pastor Jennifer cheers for a lighter shade of blue even though she studied at that dark blue school down the street. With degrees from Duke University Divinity School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - School of Social Work, Jennifer’s deep joy resides at the intersection of church and community as she seeks to empower all people to live fully in the Holy One’s redemptive grace.

Pastor Jennifer loves to explore state parks, sing on a whim, play board games, and dance just because. Left to her own devices, you will probably find Pastor Jennifer curled up with the latest Inspector Gamache mystery or laughing at the wittiness that is David Sedaris. Pastor Jennifer believes every day should include a good cup of coffee, chocolate, a walk, and a good laugh - the kind where you can’t breathe.

A native Floridian, she feels most at peace near the ocean and in the sunshine with her dog, Emma. She loves to dabble with the power and beauty of words, writing poetry for fun and writing prayers for Augsburg Fortress publications. Her current retirement dream is to adopt all the dogs at the animal shelter and have a dog farm a la the ending of 101 Dalmatians.

So if you’re interested in volunteering on the farm in 30 years, talking theology, advocating for God’s justice, or stumbling along together through this hot mess we call life surrounded by grace, mercy, and love - send Pastor Jennifer an email… She’s not the best at checking her voicemail and has been known to forget her phone at home on more days than one.

Grace French was born and raised in Durham, NC before she jetted off to the West Coast. She received a Bachelor's degree in Theology from Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington, and spent three years in Montana working in youth, children, and family ministry before returning to North Carolina. She loves stories, and is especially happy to hear them with a good cup of coffee in hand and a cinnamon roll. Grace holds a high value on empathy, and is always eager to ask more questions. She is a firm believer in the fact that YOU are beloved- always- by a faithful God.

Grace loves to read, play any and all board games imaginable, bake, hike, and play soccer! She especially enjoys finding a good spot to watch the sun set each night. One of the prettiest sunsets she's ever seen was in Greece! She's excited to be back closer to her family in North Carolina, and especially excited to take a break from moving- she's lived in five different houses (and three states) in the past five years!
